But trying to save or otherwise manipulate the file would cause Word to not respond.

After trying many times to resolve the issue, folloing steps suggested in the Windows Community, I gave up and decided to pourchase the upgrade to Office which has the most recent versions of all components, e. Word The Word program seemed to work OK, at first, but today, 3 November, the same "not responding" problem appeared. I though maybe it was being interfered with by the residual Office files, so I worked to remove all Office programs using the "Rmove programs" of the Control Panel and CCleaner to clean the registry of erross.

After doing that, I still have the "not responding" problem. Word will nto allow me to make changes in the page format, e. It does not respond to commands. This is so even if I start with a blank page. I can add and edit text, change fone style, etc. Edit existing documents but not change formating.

I realize there is a compatibility issue with using Word to ecit files created with Word I have followed the steps necessary to make the files compatible in Word I have been thinking of uninstalling Office , cleanins the system of all reference to Office programs and then re-installing Office Is that the recommended solution to this issue?

I just opened a new word doc and an excel. Put a few words in each. Saved as. Put them in a folder. Closed them. If I double click on either one of the saved files, it immediately pops up not responding. I went into both word and excel, did the steps suggested. There was no boxes checked off in the Com-in add. Once in a while, not often, but a few times I get this error pop up.

From screenshot it seems like you are saving the file on network drive, try to save file locally on the computer and check if issue persist.
